IPL Skin Rejuvenation

IPL skin rejuvenation – also known as photorejuvenation – is a non-invasive treatment that can help to remove or reduce the signs of ageing and irregularities in skin tone and condition.

Our Cellec laser uses an advanced form of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology to precisely and safely treat problem areas of skin anywhere on the face and body, including:

  • acne
  • redness, flushing and rosacea,
  • dilated and ‘broken’ blood vessels
  • sun spots or age spots
  • lentigo
  • melasma

About IPL skin rejuvenation

How does the treatment work?

The Cellec device has interchangeable filters that use different frequencies of laser light energy and enable it to customise treatment according to lesion and skin type.

Because the light source is specific to colour, it targets only the red and brown pigmentation or melanin (for example from sun damage or rosacea) at the surface of the skin – as well as the pigment in coarser, darker hair on lighter-coloured skin.

The IPL laser light targets just the pigment or melanin, heating and destroying it but leaving the surrounding tissue and epidermis unaffected.

IPL photorejuvenation can also help to improve skin texture by stimulating production of collagen.

How many sessions will I need?

You will need a series of treatments (for most conditions usually a course of 3 to 5 sessions), with about a month between each session.

When will I see the results?

You should see a gradual improvement in your skin, over the course of the treatments, often with a slightly different response after each session.

How long does it take?

Treatment sessions usually take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Is the treatment painful?

You may experience some mild discomfort, more so during your first treatment session.

However most people find it easy to tolerate and as your skin begins to improve, the treatments should become even more comfortable.

The Cellec device has a built-in cold-air jet to manage the heat from the laser, and we apply a cooling gel to your skin before and after the procedure.

Are there any side effects?

After your first treatment session, you will see some redness and slight swelling in the treated area, possibly with a slight darkening of the brown spots on the skin.

These side effects should lessen in a few hours, and completely disappear within a few days, and be less noticeable after subsequent treatment sessions.

You can return to work or carry on with your day immediately after the treatment session.

How long do the results of IPL skin rejuvenation treatment last?

You may need top-up treatments every 6 or 12 months, depending on the condition treated, to maintain results.

These are also helped by continuing to take care of your skin, especially by protecting it from too much sun exposure.

We will discuss expected results and number of treatment sessions during your consultation for the procedure, and will answer any questions or concerns you have.
