Stubborn areas of fat can be a nuisance, as it can be very difficult to near impossible to get rid of these through diet and exercise alone. Fat around the chin area can be embarrassing and cause us to feel very self-conscious. However, invasive surgery can be expensive and can mean long recovery times, as well as carrying the risks associated with a general anaesthetic and the possibility of scarring. At Dentelle Aesthetics in Dorridge, Solihull, we have painstakingly researched the most effective, safe and clinically-proven fat reduction treatments which don’t involve a general anaesthetic or a surgeon’s blade. One such treatment which we are excited to offer, is Deso fat dissolving injections.
Deso is an injectable substance which is used to treat localised, stubborn fat on the face and the body. This fat simply doesn’t shift, no matter how much a patient may diet or exercise. The treatment is a form of lipolysis, a non-invasive procedure which helps to accelerate the body’s own, natural fat removal process. The active ingredient in Deo is deoxycholic acid – a bile acid which naturally emulsifies as well as solubilises the dietary fats within the intestine. Deso is a cytolytic medication, meaning that it helps to break down one specific type of cell – in the case of Deso, the fat cells. The substance is injected under the skin and gets to work on these fat cells, so that the results is a slimmer, more contoured and firmer chin area.
After your skin is cleansed and sterilised, your chin area (just underneath the chin) will be injected with Deso, to liquify and permanently destroy the fat cells. These are later dispersed by your body’s lymphatic system in the weeks that follow your Deso treatment. After the injections have been administered, you will be able to return to your daily activities, adhering to any aftercare advice that your practitioner offers you.
Before any non-surgical treatment can be carried out, here at Dentelle Aesthetics, we will ask that you attend a pre-treatment consultation. This initial meeting does not oblige you to undergo the treatment, but helps us determine whether Deso would be both suitable and safe for you to undergo, should you decide to have the procedure. We will check your medical history, examine the area to be treated, as well as explain how the treatment works and what to expect by means of downtime or potential side effects. Once we are happy to proceed with a Deso treatment and you are satisfied with all the information we have given you, you can go ahead and book your appointment to undergo the procedure.
This all depends on how many treatments are advised. Usually you should see the results for a double chin treatment, around 4 to 6 weeks after your final session.
Common side-effects can include:-
• Numbness or hardness in the treated area
• Discomfort, tenderness or swelling in the treated area
• Redness or bruising in the treated area
• A burning sensation or irritation
These are quite normal side effects which will subside in a day or so.
Other rare but serious side-effects can include:-
• Trouble swallowing
• A weakness in the muscles around the treated area
• A crooked smile
• Open skin sores or drainage around the treated area
These side-effects are extremely rare. However, you will be advised that if you experience any of these, you must contact the clinic immediately for treatment.
As the fat cells are permanently destroyed, a Deso treatment for a double chin should be permanent. However, it’s worth noting that if you do not maintain a healthy weight or lifestyle, you can gain fat in other areas of the face and neck. Therefore we advise that alongside your Deso treatment, you eat healthily and exercise moderately, to maintain a healthy weight.
