Stimulate your skin for a natural regeneration
Collagen stimulation therapy is one of the most up to date treatments which can harness your body’s natural healing powers to improve skin health. It is quickly becoming the skin rejuvenation modality of choice achieving visible results for fine lines, sun damage, scarring, slackened skin, uneven skin tone and dilated blood vessels.
The process called ‘micro-needling’ is delivered with an innovative medical device. The award winning Dermapen® will produce thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. Each channel will penetrate into the dermis of the skin to a controlled depth and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The tiny channel will close rapidly, enabling the skin to quickly recover. The body reacts to the superficial injury by stimulating the natural healing process. Skin cells around the needle channel release growth signals that increase the proliferation of new cells. Collagen and elastin fibres increase in number, improving the skin quality and helping to repair existing scar tissue.
Medical micro-needling can significantly improve the appearance of aged and sun damaged skin, facial lines and wrinkles as well as acne scars
Following the Dermapen® therapy it can take up to 6-weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a gradual and long lasting enhancement. A course of three treatments is usually recommended with a period of six weeks between each.
What can micro needling therapy do for you?
If you want to improve your complexion in a natural way with very little down time this is the therapy for you.
Crepey wrinkles, patchy areas of pigmentation and moderate acne scarring are reduced and the skin has a healthy new plumpness.
Male clients have reported that they receive compliments from their girlfriends on “how great” their skin is looking.
Maximum benefits are achieved when combining the recommended skin care products before and after treatment.
Before and after Dermapen® Micro-needling Treatment
Before and after care
To achieve maximum benefits from collagen stimulation therapy, it is important to understand how to prepare your skin before the procedure. Applying potent vitamin formulas such as A and C before and after treatment greatly enhances the results. The vitamins can be pictured as the workers in the growth ‘factories’ set up by the needling procedure and they will continue to benefit your skin for months after treatment. Research has shown that supporting skin with vitamin A creams increases its thickness by 140%, compared to 100% with needling alone. Additional nutritional collagen support can be gained by taking supplements containing skin nutrients such as those found in the Advanced Nutrition Programme ™ from the International Institute of Anti-ageing.
What happens during treatment?
Makeup should be removed. Anaesthetic cream is used to numb the skin for at least 30 minutes to make the procedure comfortable. The Dermapen® is carefully applied to the skin in all areas, passing lightly over the surface in circular motions until the skin appears red. A moderate vibration or pricking sensation may be experienced. During the treatment, potent vitamin serums are massaged into the skin and penetrate down into the dermis where they are able to feed the skin at a deeper, therapeutic level. A cool recovery mask is then applied on completion to soothe and relax.
Immediately following the treatment you will look like you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to subside after 1 – 2 hours and will normally recover on the same day, with only a slight redness the following day. Tepid water is recommended to cleanse during the 48 hours following the procedure and it is advisable not to wear make-up for the first 12 hours. After your first treatment you will be provided with a recovery serum to help sooth your skin and a UVA/UVB sunscreen, which MUST be applied to avoid the possibility of sun damage during the healing phase.
